The family that slays together, stays together. That was us and, technically, still is. We coined that phrase in the early 2000s (if you coined it before us, forgive us, we didn’t know). People have often complimented our family on the close ties we have, and that “slays/stays” thing was part of our response: we slay bad guys as a familial unit in the virtual world, and in the spiritual world too.

This was first published on Linkedin December 2020 by Darcien Balog. End of watchSo, my last character played during our "Agents of Edgewatch" (Paizo) night was obliterated from the Tapestry of Fate. I mean, The Fates didn't just cut the string of my character's life line, they plucked the thread from the tapestry, licked their fingers to smooth the neighboring threads into place and effectively removed my character from memory. No time traveler could ever find her existence. Who's existence? IDK, The Fates did stuff. birth![]() So, my daughter, (you know, Ashleigh, the GM?) tried to convince me once more to play a swashbuckler, because they are witty and fun. I am not witty. Or fun. So I resisted. Until I pulled up my Pathbuilder 2E app on my phone and discovered the Shoony race. Sir Didymus is born–again. I mean, Sir Didymus is the swashbuckling, hero dog of honor in the movie Labyrinth, so technically he already exists. The Shoony class is an appealing and P-ugly race. They are the Hobbits of the Golarion world. They have reputation for hospitality, good will, and pacifism. They are loyal companions created by the now-missing-presumed-dead Aroden. So most Shoony now follow Erastil. But Sir Didymus still follows Aroden–he's THAT loyal. And he is not as adverse to proactivity as the rest of his race, though he is devoutly good as they are. Since he is proactive, he seeks to create good in a fallen world and has taken up the saber and will set the world to rights. Maybe The Fates will deem Sir Didymus worthy unlike what's-her-name. We'll see. |
